How To Sell My Crafts?

I love to craft. At the moment I’m making a ton of favor boxes for my sister’s baby shower at the end of the month. I make dream catchers, some jewelry, and I’ve dabbled in some other crafts over the years. Since October 2011, I’ve been selling my items on Etsy here, in my shop MiscMarica (“Miscellaneous Marica”). I also sell at a nearby Christmas craft show in November. (I’ve been meaning to sell at at least one more show for the last few years, but before I know it, it’s already mid-October and the season for craft shows has started.)

Unfortunately, the fees needed to list and relist each item on Etsy really build up, on top of PayPal’s and Etsy’s fees upon every sale. Last month I calculated the fees from these 7 years in comparison to my sales… and yikes, it was scary. It’s a money pit, essentially.

At some point this year, I will be closing my Etsy store. Prices have been reduced for about a month, and I’m not sure if I’ll reduce them any further in hopes to getting some more items out of my stash.

I’m wondering if there’s anywhere else online for selling handmade items? I wish I could create a page on this site for my items, and use that as like a shop (PayPal only). I’ll likely find at least one or two more shows this year (and I mean it!) to help sell off my inventory and give me reason to craft more again.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!

(I’m halfway through Book #12, so a new review post should be up next week!)

My Etsy store has a new name!

It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally made the update… my Etsy store has a new name!

I was tired of explaining my store’s former name all the time (FrauleinPfau = “Miss Peacock” in German; at the time of creating my store I was in a big German kick and I loved anything peacock [not quite as much nowadays]), and I wanted something that included my name.

So then it became a matter of finding a new shop name – something to reflect the odd assortment of handicrafts in which I dabble, and something to include my name.

Lo and behold, I found the right word – with the bonus of alliteration haha:

Misc Marica    (Miscellaneous Marica)

And of course I needed a new banner for the top of my shop’s website:

Misc Marica banner 1

My shop’s new banner; I took that background photo, incorporating a few of my items (cards, dreamcatchers, jewelry, and resin pieces)

Century Gothic is one of my go-to fonts (so clean and basic), so I knew I’d want to use it for my new “look”.

I have also added a bunch of new items recently.

Click here to see my Etsy store – and if you use the code “MISCWELCOME15” at checkout, you can get 15% off your purchase of $15 or more. Good through July 8.

UPDATE: I did slightly alter the shop name; it’s now MiscMarica, and has been changed in the above hyperlink as well.
