Last Sunday I went to Hale Farm and Village in Bath, Ohio, for its annual Civil War reenactment weekend. This was my third year to see this particular event. The weather was gorgeous and I was able to see President Lincoln give an address, hear the camp chase fifes and drums, walk through the camps, hear a few reenactors talk about army life, tour a small flower garden, and watch the reenactment of The Battle of Port Republic.
I will be honest that I was a touch worried that something would happen, given that the day before was Charlottesville. But I was greatly relieved and happy that nothing happened; everyone seemed to be enjoying the day by learning and chatting with reenactors from both sides, learning about our country’s history.
Here are some photos that I took, with my Nikon s9600. (I would love to find a p&s with a better zoom than what I have, but it will have to wait for probably another year.)
